DescriptionThis volume records stocks of food items, e.g. bread, meat, cheese, etc. As well as recording stocks, the volume records 'extra-ordinary expences [sic] of housekeeping', recording expenditure on items such as: mistresses' salary, paper and books, cloth, flax, glazier's bill, cooper's bill, etc. An annual summary appears after each year, which totals 'ordinary expences', 'ordinary and extraordinary expences', 'total of one year excluding salaries', 'extraordinary charge' and costs per head, per year, month and day. At the front of the volume are the 'rules for diet and daily expense thereof at the charity school every meal'. This is essentially a list of how much was spent per week on each meal for each day and also how much was spent annually for the years 1742 - 1768. Also at the front of the book, there are further annual summaries that give a breakdown of expenditure on each item in the list of expenses, e.g. there will be a total for the year's expenditure on meat, etc. A list of 'Legacies &c.' (1728 - 1751) appears at the front of the volume which, as well as recording legacies, records money received from subscriptions, charity sermons, rent and interest and total receipts.
