| Description | This Series comprises two volumes of minutes created by the original Survey Council with overlapping dates which were deposited with the library as part of two separate deposits.
The minutes in the first volume (see MS 2724/1/1/1) include the minutes of the first meeting of the Survey Section of the BPS (essentially the WPS), held at St Edmund's College, Edmund Street, on 8 May 1890. It was referred to variously in the minutes as the Survey Section of the BPS, the Sub-Committee of the Survey Council and the Survey Council.
The minutes of the Council from 1890 continue in volume MS 2724/1/1/1 until 13 May 1897, after which the minutes of the reconstituted Survey Council after May 1897 continue in the new minute book MS 2724/1/1/2.
Minute book MS 2724/1/1/1 also includes the minutes of the General Meetings of the Survey after May 1897. At the Annual General Meeting of the Survey on 14 May 1897, it was resolved that Ordinary General Meetings should meet on the first Friday of every month at 8 pm, in accordance with Rule 5 of the Survey.
After 1917 (the cut off date of minute book MS 2724/1/1/1) the minutes of these General Meetings continue in minute book MS 2724/1/1/2. |
