| Description | Administrative records of the Survey from 1890 - 1958 can be found in this Sub Collection and give a more or less complete record of the original Survey's development from its founding in 1890. The collection of library files from c1942 - 1958 in particular mark the cut-off point at which the Survey became an affiliated branch of the Birmingham Photographic Society to being a collecting function of the Birmingham Reference Library. These records were deposited at the Library from various sources.
The early minute books of the Survey (from c1890 - 1942) are technically Birmingham Photographic Survey, whilst the files and registers dating after c1942 are would nominally be catalogued as Central Library administrative and depositor files. Both sets of records have been amalgamated together in Sub Collection MS 2724/1 for contextual reasons. |
