DescriptionHot platinum print Castle Plate. Photographed by Edwin C. Middleton, Stanmore Road, Edgbaston at 14.45 hours on 3 August 1891. Exposure 2 seconds Stop f32. Focus of lens Ross Wide Angle 7.5 inch ifocus. Note: 'See Dugdale [Dugdale's 'History']. A note on the back of the photograph reads: 'There are traces of a small moat around this dwelling. W. Veasey [pictured] who resides here is about to leave as it is unfit for habitation. His family have resided here "since the Hermits had it". The house the buildings on the right and many other houses just around are built of pebbly clay and straw locally known as "Mudgineer" (query spelling). They are erected by squatters and vagrants on the Heath'.
