DescriptionHot platinum print. Photographed by Edwin C. Middleton between 13.00 and 14.00 hours on an unspecified date in 1890, lens focus 11 inches Ross Rapid Symmetrical. Street scene showing crowd gathered to watch a conjurer doing a rope tying trick on a piece of derelict land near the Old Square, Corporation Street, Birmingham. A note on the back of the print states that the buildings on the land originally formed part of the old Lichfield Street, which lay on the route of the new Corporation Street, and that the Winter Gardens were being erected on the land at the time the photograph was taken.
