Docketed “Proposes saddle plates for bridges of Comet and James Watt’s boilers. Dasher’s repairs going on – size of paddle wheel. To examine the various kinds of coal in the neighbourhood. No progress made in scheming Leith No. 3.” On the inside of the letter James Watt Jr. has addressed Brown as being “on board the James Watt, Newhaven”.
