| Description | The first of two bundles containing correspondence concerning the steam boat engines supplied to the Imperial & Royal Danube Steam Navigation Co. The “Danube Company” ws one of Boulton Watt & Co.’s largest customers for boat engines. The bundle contains incoming correspondence addressed to Boulton Watt & Co.’s London agent James Brown from the directors of the Company, and fromengine erectors and agents sent out. To these have been added copies of letters between Boulton Watt & Co. at Soho and the directors, agents and erectors. These copies were made in the offices at Soho and sent to London for reference. There is little evidence for how this bundle was originally kept, so it has been listed in chronological order. However some of the letters have been docketed, which implies they were originally placed in the bundles of general correspondence, and removed at a later date.
