TitleCorrespondence James Watt to Matthew Boulton 1795
LevelSeries
Date1795
DescriptionLetters from James Watt to James Watt Jr. from 1795. The letters from January were written to Watt Jr. in London, while the rest of the letters were written to him at Soho, when Watt was in London and Scotland. Watt Jr. docketed the letters with Watt’s name and the date of the letter, and the letters were later summarized by Gregory Watt. Henry Hazleton summarised the letters again in the 1890s, but his summaries have been transcribed only where they expand on the docket.

The letters of 2 September and 11 September are marked “A. Glass Case No.1.” They were therefore presumably on display, either in the Watt Room at Soho Foundry or in George Tangye’s Watt Room.
