| Description | Letters from Logan Henderson from 1777 and 1781. Logan Henderson was one of Boulton & Watt’s earliest engine erectors, working for them between 1776 and 1783. He made extensive visits to Cornwall, London, Ireland, Scotland the North East and elsewhere, and he supervised matters at Soho when Boulton and Watt were absent.
Henderson brought these letters back to Soho on one of visits. At some point, probably during Henry Hazleton’s custody of the collection in the Watt Room at Soho Foundry, the letters were mixed up with James Watt and Matthew Boulton’s letters for the same years. Henderson may well have returned other bundles of his correspondence, but they have not survived. |
