DescriptionDocketed “Reports on the condition of the vessel purchased by the Austrian Lloyds Co. from the Danube Co. The Ferdinand’s engines have had a smash. The Dorothea and Stamboul are both under repair. State of the engines. Has recommended 95 or 100 horse cylinders to be applied to the Stamboul. Has stated 8 weeks as the time for preparing them. The Empress started on the 24th for the Levant. Her engines continue to work well. Has had to put 2 new plates into the boilers etc. The Emperor’s paddle centre gets loose. Remarks on the destructive quality of the water in the boilers.”
