LevelSeries
Date1795—1799
DescriptionLetters from William Bedford, from 1795 to 1799. William Bedford was a Birmingham attorney who was regularly engaged by Boulton, Watt and the various firms at Soho. He was hired for work such as purchase of land, drawing up of apprentices’ articles, etc. These letters include references to the purchase of the land for Soho Foundry in 1795 and 1796, and Boulton & Watt’s dispute over the Harborne Poor Rate in 1799. The letters were found among the General Incoming Correspondence 1829—1843 and seem to have been kept as a small separate bundle.

See also 2/65, Miscellaneous Legal Papers, for a bill from Bedford for legal work from 1785 to 1786.
