Dear Sir

I had the pleasure of writing to you pr last post. This morning I recieved a letter from Mr Turner telling me Wheal Crenver and all the other goods were on board and that they were endeavouring to get a few bricks to make up the loading so that with good luck and a good wind i hope you will soon be in posession of the lovely Betty's charms if she arrive soon i would have you take the a lonely walk a consdier if you think it probale to get the engines to work timeenough to fork the water before the wet season comes on and if your own judgment (baring low spirirts) tells you it can't be done, then set your mind at ease and don't vex about it for what can't be cured must be indured. But if you think you can get them timenough, then do not suffer either Paul or Thomas or any other apostle or Captain or Lieutenant to put you from your purpse by any of their persuasions (for two mill is money) however in either case don't vex your self, it is not in the power of mortals to command success. I think I understand all the elements of the horizontal, Eliptical, Ecliptical, conical, comical, rotative, mill and a good mill it is therefore I beg neither it nor any of the others which we have made (& nobody else) may be lost for want of securing, as the people in London, Manchester, & Birmingham are steam mill mad, & therefore let us be wise & take the advantage. I don't mean to hurry you into any deteremintation, but I think in the course of a month or two we should deteremine to take out a patent for certain methods of producing rotative motions from the vibrating or reciprocating motion of the fire endiune remembering that we have 4 months to describe the particulars of the inventions.
At your leisure only please to favour me with your sentiments respecting a patent. I will take the trouble &c of doing the necessary.
Mr. Hurd Junior and Mr. Ruston had laid a plan to make some money of the brass company but the latter being too impetuous & the fomrer sly, he (Hurd) hath bought a piece of free land near to Mrs. Farmers house for £900. The canal runs through the middle of it, and he has set about 1/3 or 1/4 of it top the brass company for 100 years at £40 a year. Hence the two friends are at variance and quarrelled with each other at the last committee.
Herewith I send you a copy of Gore and Sheers Account. Pray was the 5 per cent and the last balance paid in copper agreed upon to allow them.
Henry WIlliams went to Ketley on Tuesday last. Robert Cameron is at work unponm a working barrel for the little engine which he will bring you an account of.
I am afriad you will be incomoded with the paint pray live out of doors as much as you can till the smell is gone. I hope to hear by the next post of your arrival. I hope in health with Mrs, Watt and of children. Pray mention Greg in partiuclar.

Present my best compliments to MRs. Watt also Mr. Henderson & believ me.
Yours most sincerrely
Matthre Boulton
Pray would you have us send some damping boxes to Cornwall.
