| Description | Letters and papers relating to John Wilkinson’s dispute with Boulton & Watt, from 1775 to 1796. The dispute followed on from the falling out John had with his brother William. William subsequently informed Boulton & Watt of various engines that John had made without Boulton & Watt’s consent. The material in this bundle was assembled as evidence for Boulton & Watt’s claims for engine premiums, and it is divided into five smaller bundles, as follows: Nos. 1-12. Letters from John Wilkinson, 1792 and 1795. Nos. 13-29. Transcripts of Correspondence, Memoranda etc. Nos. 30-34. Lists of Engines made by John Wilkinson. Nos. 35-43. Calculations of Premiums on John Wilkinson’s Engines. Nos. 44-49. Accounts. For more details of Wilkinson’s dispute with Boulton & Watt, see his entry in the Guide to Persons and Firms. |
