Description10 horse power single-acting sun & planet engine, with 24 inch cylinder, 6 foot stroke, parallel motion. Made double-acting and power increased to 20 horses in 1796.

Includes reverse general view of the engine, plans and sections of the engine and engine house showing some architectural features, connection to millwork, boiler, horse wheel etc.; cross plate, suction piece, clack seat piece, working barrel etc.; wheels; parallel motion; brewing coppers, millwork, drawing of horse wheel by millwright John Cartwright, with cute horse sketched in; ground plan of yard; detailed ground plan with key showing layout of brewery, dwelling houses and adjoining streets, dated 2 May 1786; sheet of notes the layout; coloured ground plan marked "This is thought to be Barclay's" [but which bears little resemblance to the other ground plans]. Almost all the engine drawings are reverse copies.
