1063. Curries & Co., Bromley (RY). Mar., Apr. 1839. 4 items. 25 horse power side lever boat engine for land, with 2½ foot stroke.
Plan and section of the engine house, plan and elevation of steam and feed pipes - partially coloured original drawings; sketch plan of shafts and "spurt vat"; sketch of cast iron shaft. Only the first item bears a letter code.

For Curries & Co. Brewery, Bromley. This engine was made in 1827 as one of a pair of 20 horse boat engines. It was converted to a 25 horse engine when it was sold to Curries & Co. in 1839. The other engine of the pair was sold to the Patent Rivet Co. [see Portfolio 5/1069c]. Curries & Co. had previously bought a 20 horse boat engine in 1825 [see Portfolio 5/1062], and they bought a 40 horse crank engine in 1843 [see Portfolio 5/526].
