For Thomas Houldsworth. Textile mill, Manchester. Houldsworth bought this engine to assist the 40 horse crank engine he bought in 1822 [see Portfolio 5/475]. In 1847 he bought a 25 horse boat engine, coded NH, to further assist the 40 horse [see Engine Order Book 12].
