Drawings of proposed engines and pumps, May & Jun. 1793: Single acting engine: Reverse side view of the pump and 45 inch engine cylinder marked "Scheme for a Single Engine"; plan of the proposed engine house showing existing 32 inch engine and proposed 45 inch engine (partially coloured); front view of the pump. Double-acting engine: Reverse side view of air vessel and pump and general view of engine with a 32 inch cylinder (2 drawings on 1 sheet both marked "Double Engine"); front view of the inner pump, 2 plans of the engine house with differing arrangements of pumps and air vessels. This engine was erected alongside the first New River Head engine [see Portfolio 5/1090]. The List of Engines made at Soho states that this engine had a 32 inch cylinder, but the drawings show a 36 inch cylinder, and John Southern's List of Books and the Drawing Office Index both state that it was a 36 inch cylinder.
