Two single-acting engines, with 54 inch cylinders, 8 foot strokes, parallel motions, cast iron beams. The engine house for these engines was built close to the house containing the first two engines of 1807 [see Portfolio 5/1095]. From the start the house was designed for two engines, and the second engine, coded WL, was erected in 1825-1826. These engines pumped water from the springs at Dalmarnock to the Sidney Street reservoir. The engine house containing engines nos. 6 & 7 was built alongside this house [see Portfolio 5/1097].
