Two single acting engines, with 54 inch cylinders, 8 foot strokes, parallel motions, [cast iron beams].

Reverse plan of the engine house showing the "old 54 inch engine house", cross-section and plan of the boiler house, longitudinal view of engine and boiler, cross-sections of the engine house at the pump end and near the cylinder, plan of the well, view of the pumps (with later drawing of the pumps as executed stuck on); suction pipes and air vessel etc. - original and coloured reverse drawing, and sketches taken from it and sent to the Foundry; view of the pumps (similar to that stuck on the reverse drawing), plan of the pumps [?]; sketch plan of clack and 2 notes re pillars sent to the Foundry (3 small sheets stuck together); sketch of plates for stop valves; sketch of part of pump [?] marked "Cast at the 'dale - this plan wrong"; note and sketch from William Middleton to William Creighton re hot water cisterns; sketch of pump rod. The reverse drawings and the drawings of the suction pipes and air vessel bear letter codes.

O. Denny, 1 Jan. 1829 and corrected version 14 Jan. 1829; plan and section of the engine and boiler houses by A. For the Glasgow Water Works. Pumping engines, Dalmarnock, Glasgow. These engines were erected in a house alongside the house containing engines nos. 4 & 5 [see Portfolio 5/1096]. Engines nos. 1 & 2, the 36 inch engines of 1807, were also on the Dalmarnock site [see Portfolio 5/1095].
