Includes reverse general view of engine, plans and sections of the engine, framing, boiler etc.; working gear - 2 reverse side and front, both coloured, one is dated 12 Jan. 1787 and two coloured plans; fly wheel, connecting rod, grate bars; sketch plan of pumps [?] showing dimensions from Liptrap and "Goodwin"; two plans of the building, pumps, millwork, horse wheel etc., one of which is dated Mar. 1786 and is signed by James Watt. Almost all the engine drawings are reverse copies.

For Samuel Davey Liptrap. Malt distillery, near Whitechapel Road, London. Liptrap made the agreement for the engine on behalf of himself and the other partners in the distillery. The firm was later referred to as S. D. Liptrap & Co., and later S. D. Liptrap & Son, and later Liptrap & Co., and eventually Stein & Smith.
