Engine formerly belonged to the York Buildings Water Works. Reverse plan of the engine house, plan of the tunnel, longitudinal section of the engine house and pumps, cross-sections of the engine house and well. All the drawings bear letter codes and are marked "Joseph Stevens". Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 781. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 178, 180. For the East London Water Works. Pumping engine. The engine was originally made for the York Buildings Water Works in 1810. The East London Water Works bought it in 1824. Henry Hazleton listed the engine twice in the Catalogue of Old Engines. The East London Water Works had previously erected two 36 inch crank engines in 1808 [see Portfolio 5/1122], and they also bought two 60 inch engines, in 1817 and 1826 [see Portfolios 5/1121a & b].
