Two 20 horse power side lever boat engines, with 26¾ inch cylinders, 2½ foot strokes. Boat re-named Ariel 1837.

Midship section and section at 14 feet fat the centre of gravity - tracings made from original drawings by W. Evans, Apr. & May 1821; coloured cross-section and plan of the engine and boiler room beams; section and plan of copper boiler - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings (copies made in 1825); side view of the engine and section of the boiler and plan of the engines and boiler - coloured reverse drawing (this drawing bears a letter code).

For H. M. Post Office, Dover station. The Arrow was built by W. Evans of Rotherhithe. She was moved to the Port Patrick station in 1825, but in 1833 she was fitted with 30 horse engines and returned to Dover for the Ostend service. She was re-named Ariel in 1837 when the Navy took over the Post Office packet fleet. As Ariel, she took part in trials against the the screw-propelled boat Archimedes in 1840. The drawings for the first four Dover packets were kept in the same book, No. 767.
