Two 25 horse side lever boat engines, with 30¼ inch cylinders, 2½ foot strokes. Boat re-named Swallow 1837.

Cross-section, plan of the engine deck beams, section of the engine room and boiler, plan and section of sleepers and engine platform, gangway wale and paddle casing - reverse drawings made in the London office; sections and plan of boiler - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings made in the London office (also used for boilers for the Crusader and Salamander); sketch of paddle wheel and shaft.
Also the following later items: sections and plan of boiler - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings, Aug. 1834 (these drawings bear letter codes).

For H. M. Post Office, Dover station. Ferret was built by W. & H. Pitcher of Blackwall. The boat was re-named Swallow in 1837 when the Navy took over the Post Office packet fleet.
