Two 60 horse power side lever boat engines, with 42 inch cylinders, 4 foot strokes.
Also general drawings of 60 horse engines for the Navy, Mar. 1822.

"Sketch of the midship section of a Steam Vessel with 2 engines 60 horses each", longitudinal section of engine room and plan of the engines and boiler and shafts etc. - general reverse drawings made in the London office, Mar. 1822. These drawings bear letter codes.
Cross-section of the boat and engines (partially coloured), cross-section at after bulkhead, longitudinal section of the engine room and boiler, plan of the engines and pipes and engine sleepers etc. (partially coloured) - reverse drawings made in the London office; plan and section of coal boxes - reverse drawing; sections and plan of boiler - reverse drawings made in the London office, Mar. 1830 but used for the Flamer in Aug. 1832; upper headstock frame; sketch of injection and emptying pipes and cocks sent to the Foundry. Only the coal box and headstock drawings bear letter codes.

For H. M. Navy. Flamer was wrecked off West Africa in 1836. Note that Boulton Watt & Co. provided the engines for a Post Office Weymouth packet also called the Flamer [see Portfolio 5/1136]. The Navy boat was usually referred to as the "Navy Flamer" to distinguish the two.
