Two 75 horse power side lever boat engines, with 48 inch cylinders, 4 foot strokes.

Cross-section of the boat and engines, plan of the engine deck beams and longitudinal section of the engine room, plan of the engine room and boiler etc. (partially coloured) - reverse drawings made in the London office; sections and plan of tubular boiler - 2 partially coloured original and 2 partially coloured reverse drawings made in the London office; condenser sleeper plate - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; paddle wheels and shafts; paddle wheel - partially shaded reverse drawing; steam and feed pipes - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawing; injection pipes and cocks, blow out pipes and cocks, brine pumps and pipes, waste water pipes - coloured reverse drawing; safety valve gearing - partially shaded drawing; expansion gearing - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; working gear - original and reverse drawings; brine pump - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings. All these drawings except the first 3 made in the London office bear letter codes.
Also the following rough sketches, memoranda etc.: tracings of outline sections and plan of engine room of an "iron steam packet of 285 tons" (tracings made at Blackwall); memorandum of the weight of the engines of the Herne, Seri Pervas and Metternich; "Calculations of boiler for 2 75s for Admiralty"; "Memorandum as to weight of a pair of 75 horse beam engines for the Admiralty for an iron vessel to be tendered for by Ditchburn & Mare" (in Gilbert Hamilton's hand, with press copy); sheet of calculations re weight of various boats (in Henry Wollaston Blake's hand); "Specification of 2 75h Engines for the Admiralty" (4 sheets, includes specification, tender, list of tools and duplicates); calculations re tubular boiler; transcript of extract from letter from James Brown dated 9 Feb. 1844 re boiler load, valves etc.; sketch of dogs for hold down bolts; sketch of engine shaft; press copy sketch of outer end plummer block; press copy sketch of cylinder.

For H. M. Navy. Myrmidon was built by Ditchburn & Mare of Orchard Yard, Blackwall. She was one of the Navy's first iron ships She was sold in 1858.
