Description30 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 28 inch cylinder, 6 foot stroke, parallel motion. Power increased to 36 horses 1801.

For Robert Owen, Jonathan Scarth and Richard Percival Moulson. Cotton mill, Manchester. The concern was also known as the Chorlton Twist Co. The engine was initially shared between Owen Scarth & Co. and Samuel Marsland, with Marsland paying for half of it as Owen was short of capital. When Owen Scarth & Co. fully loaded the engine, Marsland ordered one of his own, in late 1797/early 1798.
