Fulton was living in Paris when he ordered the engine in Aug. 1803, but he moved to London in 1804. The engine was delivered in Feb. 1805. The notes on the large scale plan and section of the engine show that many of the parts were based on the 20 horse beam engine. The boat worked on the Hudson River. The List of Engines made at Soho describes the engine as a 20 horse, while the Catalogue of Old Engines rates it at 19 horses. See also: Incoming Correspondence. |
