4 horse power crank engine, with 12? inch cylinder, 3 foot stroke, parallel motion.

For Sunderland Harbour. The engine was ordered by Jonathan Pickernell, an engineer from Sunderland, for the Commissioners "appointed by an Act of Parliament passed in the Twenty fifth year of his present Majesty entitled 'An Act for the better preservation and improvement of River Wear and Port and Haven of Sunderland in the County Palatine of Durham'." The engine was mounted in a boat and worked dredging apparatus. This engine was omitted from the Catalogue of Old Engines.
