1251. Margate Steamer Favourite (YH & YL). Jul., Nov., Dec. 1817, Jan. 1818, Jan. 1822. 13 items.
Two 20 horse power side lever boat engines, with 26¾ inch cylinders, 2½ foot strokes. Engines placed in William IV and power increased to 25 horses 1830.

All these drawings except the first 2 items bear letter codes.
Also the following press copies, rough items etc.: 5 sheets sewn together with various press copy sketches stuck to them, including hot water pumps, steam pipes, air pump rod and cross bar and side rods, supports for regulating radius, gear for lifting blow through valve, bearers, cistern, coal boxes, plummer block, eccentric rod, pipes for emptying the boilers, end of connecting rod etc. (several of these drawings were made as standard drawings for 20 horse boat engines); part of feed pipes and air vessel (press copy); plummer block (press copy); rough section of the boat showing drafts etc. with rough plan of the boat on the back.

For the London & Margate Steam Yacht Co. The boat was built by Evans of Rotherhithe. YH was the starboard engine and YL the larboard (port). In 1830 the engines were placed in a new boat and fitted with 25 horse cylinders. This new boat ran to Southend, and was briefly known as the New Favourite before becoming Lark around early Jul. 1830, and finally William IV at the end of Jul.
