1261. Margate Steamer Eclipse (XD & XE). Sep.1818-Feb. 1819, Dec. 1824. 13 items.
Two 30 horse power side lever boat engines, with 31½ inch cylinders, 3 foot strokes. Power increased to 35 horses 1828-1829.

Set of press copy drawings - 4 sheets sewn together marked "30h", with various press copy drawings stuck on them, including hot water pump, injection pipes, steam pipes, safety valves, feed pipes, eccentric rod, cylinder and air pump cross-bars, headstocks, chimney, hand rails, shafts, injection slides, stop cock, eccentric lever, spur wheels etc. Some of the drawings bear letter codes.

For the London & Margate Union Co. XE was the starboard engine and XD the larboard (port). These engines were transferred to the steamer New Eclipse and increased to 35 horses in 1829-1829.
