1264. Southend Steamer No. 2, Rose (QIL & QIS). Dec. 1831. 6 items.
Two 20 horse power side lever boat engines, with 26¾ inch cylinders, 2½ foot strokes. Cylinders formerly used in Hawk.

The boiler drawings bear letter codes.

For the Southend Steam Packet Co. The engines included the old cylinders from the Gravesend boat Hawk [see Portfolio 5/1271] which had been returned to Soho. All the other parts were new. The engines were coded as QIL (QI Larboard) and QIS (QI Starboard). |
