Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 658, 730. For the Commissioners of the River Witham, Lincolnshire. The engine was ordered by John Rennie. It was mounted in a boat and worked dredging machinery. A Mr. de Couttz was looking to buy the engine in 1818, for dredging the harbour at Havre de Grace, and drawings for him were placed in Book 730, a book of independent engine drawings. Either de Couttz did not actually buy the engine or he sold it on, because it was eventually sold to the Commissioners of Eau Brink Drainage. This engine was omitted from the Catalogue of Old Engines. See also: 4/93 (Engine Order Book No. 7). Incoming Correspondence (from John Rennie). |
