All the drawings except the first item bear letter codes. Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 821. For the East India Co., Calcutta (engine HN), and for Barcelona, Spain, ordered by Munõz & Goytia, later Jauberry & Co. (engine ID). These engines were mounted in boats and worked dredging machinery made by George & John Rennie. The Calcutta engine was made in 1824, and the drawings were re-used in 1828 for Munõz & Goytia. The Calcutta engine powered the boat as well as the dredging machinery, but the engine for Munõz & Goytia did not, as the reverse paddle wheel drawing is marked "not in M & G." Both these engines were omitted from the Catalogue of Old Engines. See also: 4/95 (Engine Order Book No. 9). Incoming Correspondence (from John Rennie). |
