For Benjamin and William Sandford. Cotton mill, Manchester. The Sandfords' mill in Manchester was worked for a time in 1797 by the Salvin Brothers of Durham. This engine was sold in 1818 when the Sandfords bought a 24 horse power crank engine [see Portfolio 5/463].
