For United Mines. Poldory Mine was part of the United Mines. The drawings, the Engine Book, the first section of the List of Engines made at Soho, John Southern's List of Books and the portfolio cover describe this engine as having a 48 inch cylinder and a 9 foot stroke. However the geographical section of the List of Engines made at Soho, the Catalogue of Old Engines and Dickinson & Jenkins [p. 342] all describe it as having a 45 inch cylinder and an 8 foot stroke. The List of Engines made at Soho calls it the "Poldory New" engine and notes it as still being at work in May 1798. Dickinson & Jenkins call the "New Poldory (Cupboard)" engine.
