For H. Hicks & Sons. Eastington, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. In 1818 Hicks & Son bought a 10 horse independent engine for Churching Mills, and the plan of the mills made by George Haden for the heating apparatus was re-used and placed with the engine drawings [Portfolio 5/959]. In 1821 the firm bought a 14 horse independent engine [Portfolio 5/979]. The drawings for this engine do not reveal its exact location, but the two drawings of New Mill in this portfolio have an independent engine pencilled in.
