YD & YE: Two horizontal high pressure engines, with 36 inch cylinders, 6 foot strokes.
YF: Horizontal high pressure engine, with 30 inch cylinder, 3 foot 9 inch stroke.
XO: Horizontal high pressure engine, with 30 inch cylinder, 4½ foot stroke.
XW: Horizontal high pressure engine, with 33 inch cylinder, 3¼ foot stroke.

YD & YE:
Sleeper plates etc. - reverse drawing (mis-dated as 1858); expansion gearing - partially coloured tracing (this drawing notes the stroke as 6 fettt).

YF:
Sleeper plates, guides, plummer block and crank - reverse drawing; connecting rod, crank, cross-bar and guides - partially coloured reverse drawing.

XO:
Base frame, guides, plummer block etc. - partially coloured reverse drawing.

XW:
Base plate, plummer block and guides - partially coloured reverse drawing.

All the drawings bear letter codes.

For the Blaenavon Iron Works, Monmouthshire. From 1858 to 1860, the Blaenavon Iron Works ordered nine engines. In addition to the five featured here, there were two high pressure vertical engines with 12 inch cylinders and 12 inch strokes, coded YT and YU which were used for sawing bars, and two high pressure horizontal "blast" engines with 36 inch cylinders and 7 foot strokes, coded YX and YY.
