Description10 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 17? inch cylinder, 4 foot stroke, parallel motion.

Coloured original and reverse general view of the engine, coloured original and reverse plans and sections of the engine (no boiler shown); framing and cistern - reverse drawings; parallel motion - coloured original drawing; working gear - coloured original front and side views; press copy sketch showing two round boilers, dated 6 Apr. 1797; plan of water wheel, boilers, smithy and dwelling place and part of mill, and letter from Thomas Hodgson to Peter Ewart dated Caton Mill, 17 Aug. 1796, discussing the existing boilers and sending the sketch and a transcript of a letter from Henry Gardner; letter from Henry Gardner dated Caton, 17 Nov. 1796, with pencil sketch plans of the engine, water wheel and boilers, and section of boiler.
Also coloured original and reverse plan and sections of new oblong boiler and steam pipes, Jul. 1800 (the reverse plan is on the back of a crossed out coloured working gear drawing for M. & J. Bateson. All the engine drawings bear letter codes.
