All the drawings except the roof section and the rods for the Great Lathe engine bear letter codes.

Drawings for the extension of the engine company's premises at Soho Manufactory. This extension was mainly overseen by Matthew Robinson Boulton. It involved new buildings and the addition of new engines and machinery. The engines were designed by William Murdock. The smaller 1 horse (6 inch) and 3 horse engines were of the beamless type, and were used for powering lathes. The 6 horse engine was a bell crank engine, and was sold to W. & E. Franklin in 1815 (see MS 3147/5/797)
