| Description | 1784: Set of 6 coloured floor plans and elevations, probably by Samuel Wyatt. The East-West section shows an engine with a beam shaped for a rack & sector, which means that these plans were done before Sep. 1784, as the reverse section of the engine house of that date (Portfolio 5/152a) shows an engine with a three-bar motion. The floor plans show spaces for 3 engines, each connected to 2 sets of 4 grindstones. The drawings are as follows: External elevation of river front. External elevation of west front. East-West section showing engine, floors etc. Plan of ground floor containing dock for barges & magazines for coals etc. Plan of 2nd floor containing the millwork, meal troughs etc. 5 feet below the level of the street. Plan of 3rd story or millstone floor 4 feet above the level of the street.
2 plans of 2nd floor, one partially coloured, showing flywheels of three engines working 2 sets of 4 grindstones. [Initial drawings for the above set?]
Plan of 2nd floor, showing flywheels of 3 engines working 2 sets of 5 grindstones. [This drawing is later than the above, as the engines were eventually connected to 2 sets of 5 grindstones each - see the 1787 plan of the millstone floor.]
Late 1784 [?]: Large section of the mill, showing floors and rooms and what they were used for, millstones, engine, etc. The engine is shown with a three-bar motion. Section of the engine house showing floors, a boiler etc. and with what appear to be circular chambers within the building.
Plan and elevation of millwork, showing vertical shaft, wheels, connecting teeth etc.
May 1787: Set of 5 floor plans showing millwork, machinery, pillars etc., all marked "Albion Mill as executed - taken May 1787", as follows: Ground floor 1st floor on which are the meal troughs 2nd or millstone floor 4th floor on which are the dressing mills etc. Detailed plan of the dressing mills, boulting mills, etc.
Ground plan, from which the actual mill has been cut away. Marked "Plan of Albion Mill - Mill over" on the back.
Feb. 1802: Ground plan of mill and dock showing neighbouring premises, marked "S. Wyatt, 26 Feb. 1802"; section taken from the river, showing floors, dock etc., from the same date [?].
