Description12 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 19ΒΌ inch cylinder, 4 foot stroke, parallel motion.

Reverse general view of the engine and boilers, reverse plans and sections of the engine and boilers; reverse plans and sections of the engine and boiler houses, framing and cistern; top of connecting rod - coloured original drawing; coloured ground plan of the land, with sheet of notes by John Southern dated Soho, 14 Aug. 1797 attached.

Also two drawings of spur wheels attached together, dated 8 Oct. 1801 and 28 Aug. 1802. All the drawings except the plan of the land bear letter codes.

Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 283. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 34.

For Thomas Hope, hatmaker. Cotton mill, Stockport. The engine was tenanted by Joseph Sykes in 1798, and according to the Catalogue of Old Engines it was being tenanted by Abram Binns in 1804.
