Reverse side view and plan of corve barrel proposed for Walker, Oct. 1794, with rough sketch of the engine on the back [see John Southern's letter to Thomas Barnes of 17 Oct. 1794 in the Drawing Office Letter Book]; reverse plan and sections of the framing and cistern; coloured "Plan of the Ground & Erections near the King Pit, Walker Colliery, 1795"; coloured plan and elevation of pit head frame for drawing coals at Walker, 1795. The reverse drawings bear letter codes. The other two drawings were sent to Boulton & Watt, probably by Thomas Barnes.

For the proprietors of Walker Colliery - Charles Brandling of Gosforth House (executor of the late William Ord of Fenham), William Peareth of Usworth House, Durham and Henry Utcirk Reay of Burnhall, Durham. Winding engine, for the King Pit. This was the first engine for Walker Colliery, and Thomas Barnes' letter of 30 Apr. 1795 suggests that drawings for the Benwell engine [see Portfolio 5/114] were adapted and used for this engine. No book appears for this engine in John Southern's List of Books. The second engine was a pumping engine with a 63 inch cylinder [see Portfolio 5/572], and the third and fourth engines were winding engines - see below.
