For Easterby Hall & Co. Lead mill, Bill Quay, near Gateshead. The concern was originally called Surtees & Hall (John Surtees and Walter Hall), and they originally ordered a 16 horse power engine. However by the time Book 315 had been opened the firm had become Easterby Hall & Co. and the order changed to a 24 horse engine. Some of the drawings originally made for this engine were re-used for James Hind & James [see Portfolio 5/179].
