For William Aitchison and Mr. - Brown. Distillery, Clement's Well, near Musselburgh, Scotland. Often spelt "Aitcheson" on the drawings. The firm became Aitchison Brown & Co. by 1789. They went bankrupt in 1793, and William Aitchison continued to run the engine for a short time before selling it to John Stein, who erected it at a distillery in Edinburgh in 1795.
