Description8 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 16 inch cylinder, 4 foot stroke, parallel motion. Second boiler added 1791. Power later increased to 10 horses.

Includes general view of the engine and mill, plans and sections of the engine, engine house, boiler and mill house showing millwork, floors, machinery etc., coloured back view of the cylinder and framing and boiler and seating, coloured front view of the mill house; parallel motion; working gear - coloured plans and front and side view; wheels, spur wheels, steam pipe, damper and frame, fireplace box, grate bars, bearer bars; millstone spindles and gear, "nutt or trundle for millstone spindles"; sheet of notes and calculations describing the engine as "much the same as FYX [Fish & Yates' engine]."
4 items date from 1791. These are a reverse plan of the boilers, coded ACK; plan of tumbling shaft; plan of the boilers; letter from John Holt to John Southern, dated Measham, 28 Apr. 1791, sending the plan.

For John, Joseph and Thomas Wilkes of Overseal, Leicestershire. Often spelt "Wilks". Corn mill, Measham. Also later applied to a cotton mill [?] on the Measham site.
