Description30 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 28 inch cylinder, 6 foot stroke, parallel motion.

Reverse general view of the engine, reverse plans and sections of the engine and boiler (one of the drawings has a small sketch of the boiler added, marked "boiler as made); reverse plan and sections of the engine and boiler houses, framing and boiler seating (the plan shows 2 boilers); cistern - reverse drawings. All the drawings bear letter codes.

For John Simpson and company. This was the third engine bought by Simpson, the first two having been purchased when the concern was John & Samuel Simpson [see Portfolios 5/60 and 5/61]. According to the Catalogue of Old Engines, the firm later became Simpson & Barton.
