| Description | 20 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 23¾ inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion.
Coloured original and reverse general view of the engine. The reverse drawing has a second smaller engine with an iron beam and 3 foot stroke pencilled in. This second engine is shown connected to the 20 horse engine via a motion at the end of the working beam. Various notes about alterations to the engine house have been added, dated Oct. 1814. This may be an initial scheme for the 10 horse engine that John Craven Jr. bought circa 1820 [see Portfolio 5/960].
Coloured original and reverse plans and sections of the engine and boilers; reverse plan and sections of the engine and boiler houses and framing; iron connecting rod (this appears to be for this engine as the drawing is marked "to fit 20 horse wheel"); plan of the premises showing proposed location of engine, horse wheel [?] etc., marked "Messrs. Bowman & Craven (here 14 Dec. 1799)." All the drawings except the last two items bear letter codes.
Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 362. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 26.
