For James Monach. Cotton mill, Glasgow. This engine formerly powered the Soho Mint [see MS 3147/ 5/714a]. The drawings for it were kept in Book 107. It was replaced by a 12 horse engine when the mint machinery was replaced in 1798-1799. Monach bought the engine in 1801, and a new Drawing Office book, No. 418 was opened.
