For the proprietors of Hawkesbury Colliery, Bedworth, near Coventry, Warwickshire. Winding engine. The proprietor with whom Boulton & Watt usually dealt was Francis Parrott. This was the second engine for Hawkesbury Colliery. The first was a pumping engine with a 58 inch cylinder, in 1777. This engine does not appear to have a had a Book opened for it, and may have been placed in one of Southern's Books of small engines. Note that it is often referred to as the "3 horse engine Bedworth". Boulton & Watt repurchased this engine and sold it to the Lancaster Canal Co.
