20 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 24 inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion.

Direct copy drawings of framing and cistern; man hole pipe, grate and bearer bars, damper plate and frame, small cross-section of boiler, boiler steam pipe and socket, fly wheel (marked "This fair copy made Jul. 1827"), brake wheel and winding barrel (coloured) - all reverse. All the drawings bear letter codes.

For Pontop Pike Colliery, County Durham. Winding engine. The proprietors were: John Gray of Newcastle upon Tyne, who ordered the engine; John, Marquis of Bute; Francis, Marquis of Dartford, and John Simpson of Bradley, County Durham.
